Printmaking Project
Description:
Together with a partner, we made floral prints for this project. We began by sketching two flowers on little pieces of paper. Next, we taped our flower sketches onto tiny styrofoam sheets and then used a pen to trace the design into the styrofoam to create indents. We moved to the printing table once the floral indents had been pushed into the styrofoam. We used a roller to apply paint to the styrofoam at the table. After the foam had been evenly covered with paint, we took the foam and used it to stamp little blank pieces of paper. When we were finished, we received two of our partners' prints and handed them two of our own. We then glued all the prints to our choice of construction paper.
Extension Activity:
Students can turn their floral prints into handmade cards with thoughtful messages to loved ones. Could do this with any kind of holiday if you wanted to do another print rather than flowers.
