Hidden Safari

 Description:

In this project, we got to pick any animal that lives in the Safari. Using a cool color, you get to draw any animal you want. I chose to draw a tiger with the color blue. Once you had that done, you repeated a pattern of different shapes and designs. I drew my shape with warm colors that hide my tiger underneath them. It was important to draw a lot, so while you are looking at it without your red glasses, you can't see the tiger. We then made our glasses with red construction paper with a red lens. When you put your red glasses on, it blocks out all the warm colors, and you can see the animal underneath. On a postcard card you had to write 3 different clues to figure out what kind of animal is being hidden.

Extension Activity:

After creating their hidden-animal art with red lens glasses, students will build a mini 3D diorama of their animal’s natural safari habitat, showing how camouflage helps animals survive in the wild.
